Mohawk Central publishes local, community-focused coverage of the Mohawk Valley. When you submit a photograph through our site, these terms describe how we may use it and what you're telling us.
By submitting a photograph you confirm that you took it, or that you have permission from the copyright owner to provide it, and — to the best of your knowledge — that no person recognizable in it objects to this use. Permission must come from the photographer or another actual rights holder, not merely from someone who appears in the picture.
"Nonexclusive" means you keep every right you had — you are not handing the photo over, and you can license or sell it to others. We simply gain permission to use it in our coverage.
Photographs are used without payment. We credit the photographer or organization as you identify on the form. If a credit is wrong or missing, tell us and we'll correct it.
Providing a photograph does not guarantee publication and does not influence Mohawk Central's editorial decisions. We decide independently what to publish.
You may ask us to stop using a photograph at any time by emailing corrections@mohawkcentral.com. We'll remove it from places we control going forward; we can't recall copies already distributed (for example, an already-sent newsletter).
Mohawk Central's DMCA Designated Agent is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. If you believe a photo on our site infringes your copyright, send a notice to the Designated Agent at corrections@mohawkcentral.com with the work identified, the URL where it appears, your contact information, a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized, and a statement — under penalty of perjury — that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner. We remove infringing material promptly on valid notice.
We strip location and camera metadata (EXIF) from the versions we publish. The contact details you provide are used to verify and credit your submission and are not published.
These terms may be updated; each submission records the version in effect when it was made. Questions: corrections@mohawkcentral.com.
